Ty Hegland, Executive Director
Ty grew up on a ranch near Sheyenne, ND and graduated from Sheyenne Public High School. He obtained B.S. Psychology from NDSU and MBA from University of Mary. Ty has one daughter Hadley (7) is an active as a member of USA Triathlon, and writes a financial journalism column. Prior to becoming the Executive Director of HERO, Ty served as the Executive Director of the Prescription Assistance Program, as well as a Development Director for Community Action Partnership. In his current role, Ty will work to build upon HERO’s mission and progress through efficient operations, financial stability, and comprehensive leadership. Read more about Ty!
Georgia Dufault, Operations Manager
Georgia grew up on a small farm near Napoleon, ND, graduated high school from Watertown, SD, and went to hair design school in Sioux Falls, SD. Her job prior to HERO was property assessing for an area county. She always wanted to help others and began her journey at HERO in July of 2006. Georgia explains, “Coming to work every day is a pleasure, we hear all kinds of life changing stories, we shed tears with clients, and we receive many thank yous and hugs. Everyday someone tells us, ‘I don’t know how I would make it without HERO’. Now that’s all about helping others!”
Margot Brenna, Communications Director
Margot grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, made her way north to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and graduated with a major in Sociology. She was an early preschool teacher and call specialist for 2-1-1 and the national suicide hotline before joining the HERO team in 2011. Now, she spends her time updating our online presence, organizing events, and spreading the word about our cause. She also started our internship program and works with marketing, graphic design, and special event interns.
Paulette Gulsvig, Development Assistant
Paulette and her husband, Bob, have five children and live in Fargo, ND. She has eleven years of medical office management and an additional six years of office administrative experience. She recently chose to follow her personal mission to help others and make a difference in our world by journeying into the non-profit world through her career and volunteering. After working with The Barry Foundation, she stepped into HERO to manage our database and make connections with our donors. Read more about Paulette!
Eddy Doxtader, Warehouse Assistant
Eddy is a US Army veteran and has experience with computer programming, managing, and organizing. He first heard about HERO when he was looking for wheelchair parts for his wife, Audrey. They became volunteers and he became a staff member in 2011. Eddy makes sure the warehouse is organized and is in charge of the waiting list. He's also helped launch our bar code system.
