Sharing Talents: Dwight & Ed

Posted on July 13, 2012 by heroadmin in News No Comments

Awhile back, someone at HERO mentioned an idea of creating the word “HERO” out of medical equipment. We thought this was an awesome idea and wanted to see it happen. Joyce, our Executive Director, contacted Dwight Mickelson of Mickelson Metal Studio. She asked if this would be something he would be interested in. He jumped at the opportunity and visited our storeĀ  and warehouse to pick out equipment he could re-purpose.

After the letters were complete, we spent a couple of months deciding where they would be best displayed. When we decided to attach them to the wall in our store, we knew we needed some outside help. We called upon our handyman, Ed.

Ed Janzen has been volunteering at HERO for the past three years. Every couple of weeks, he loads up his truck with our cardboard recycling to make sure it’s recycled properly. When we moved from Moorhead to Fargo, Ed used his handy-man skills to help us put up the shelving in the store.

Last week, Ed brought his tools over and attached the letters to the wall!

Thank you to Ed for donating your time and special talents to HERO over the years and for Dwight for creating such a creative display with re-purposed materials to showcase what HERO does.

What are your special talents? How could you use them to help others? Comment below!
